Dr. N. Joseph Espat is professor of surgery at Boston University School of Medicine, and chief of surgical oncology and chairman of the Department of Surgery at Roger Williams Medical Center. Dr. Espat has directed an NIH-funded laboratory, receiving more than $3 million in total funding since 1999. He has authored more than 250 articles, chapters and abstracts. He is an executive committee member for two National Societies and is a member of the Board of Directors of Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. He has received several notable awards including a nomination from the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) for the Association of American Medical College’s “Humanism in Medicine” Award and UIC’s “University Flame Award for Teaching Excellence".
