Dr. Jeffrey B. Matthews received his MD from Harvard Medical School. He is currently Dallas B. Phemister Professor and Chairman in Department of Surgery at The University of Chicago. Dr. Matthews is a gastrointestinal surgeon and leading authority on the surgical treatment of diseases of the pancreas, bile ducts, and liver. He also has vast experience in bile duct reconstruction and complex re-operative gastrointestinal surgery. He has held several leadership positions during his distinguished career. Currently, he serves as senior director of the American Board of Surgery and president of the Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Tract. An accomplished author, Dr. Matthews has published over 150 original articles, chapters and editorials.
