Professor Roger Williams is Professor of Hepatology, and Director of the Institute of Hepatology, London and the Foundation for Liver Research. He received his medical training at University of London, the London Hospital Medical College. His main clinical and research interests include acute liver failure, liver transplantation, complications of cirrhosis and management of viral hepatitis. Professor Williams is a Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences and is the recipient of numerous honorary fellowships, medals and prizes. He was awarded the British Association for the Study of the Liver Lifetime Achievement Award in 2003, the American Society of Transplantation Senior Achievement Award in 2004, a Hans Popper Lifetime Achievement Award in 2008 and in 2011 the Distinguished Service Award of the International Liver Transplant Society.
