Dr. Giammauro Berardi is a surgeon working at the Department of Hepatobiliary surgery and Liver Transplantation service of the San Camillo Hospital of Rome, Italy. He trained in Italy, Belgium, United States and Japan. His research focuses on the field of Hepatobiliary surgery and liver transplantation; in particular he published several papers on the minimally invasive approach for liver surgery and for living donor procurement. He is currently working on study projects concerning liver surgery in difficult situations such as advanced liver cirrhosis and portal hypertension as well as difficult tumor location (posterosuperior and paracaval segments). His Phd focuses on the challenges and limits of the laparoscopic approach to liver surgery with the aim of a better understanding of the pitfalls eventually improving the outcomes. He was awarded with several grants for research protocols and prices for highly scientific value publications and presentations. He is the RAS representative of the Italian chapter of the American College of Surgeons and is an active member of the International Laparoscopic Liver Society (ILLS), the International Association of Surgeons, Gastroenterologists and Hepatologists (IASGO) and the Italian Society of Surgery.
